NW2045 Community-Led Vision
A Vision Created by the Community
The NW2045 Vision was developed through a collaborative process involving communities from across the North West Highlands.
In early 2021, a diverse team made up of volunteers, professionals and young local interviewers worked with residents from Coigach to Durness and across the North Coast to Bettyhill to explore the future people wanted to see for their communities.
The aim was to develop a shared vision for the region, one shaped directly by the people who live and work here.
How the Vision Was Developed
The consultation combined online and in-person engagement, where possible, within Covid restrictions. The response was significant, with around one in ten residents across the North West taking part.

The insights gathered from this consultation were analysed and brought together to form three clear Vision Statements for the future of the region.
The Three Vision Statements
The consultation process identified three core ambitions that together shape the NW2045 Vision. Together, these statements provide a framework for the projects, partnerships and initiatives that NorthWest2045 supports.

The NW2045 Roadmap
The NW2045 Roadmap sets out how the Vision can be translated into practical action.
It outlines key priorities and opportunities to help communities, organisations and partners work together to strengthen the economy, support population growth and ensure the region’s long-term sustainability.
