THE NW2045 COMMUNITY-LED
VISION

The NW2045 Vision - created by the Communities of NW2045 in 2021 - is the foundation for all our work.

In early 2021, a diverse team from the communities of the North West - volunteers, paid professionals and young local interviewers - worked with people from Coigach up to Durness and round the North coast to Bettyhill to develop a shared vision for the area.

The consultation was carried out online and in person (Covid restrictions permitting), and attracted the attention of one in ten North West residents.

It included an open survey with 250 responses; a young person’s survey with 90 responses; in depth interviews with 65 people and four online community workshops for residents in Coigach, Assynt, Kinlochbervie and Tongue.

The resulting data was gathered, analysed and articulated as three Vison Statements:

-
Vision 1: A place that is attractive for young people and families to live and work
-
Vision 2: A model for a new diverse rural economy
-
Vision 3: A place where communities can determine their own prospects
